Pretty, Happy, Funny, Real...Love and the Bluebirds of Happiness

This week we celebrated the feast day of St Scholastica. This book illustrated by Tomie DePaola is a favorite of mine and I was so happy to see it available at the library when I realized at the last minute the feast day was this past week. I thought it was pretty how the sun through the window shone on the Mary statue and you can see a bit of a shadow of the heart doily I have in the window on the wall.

My St Valentine Day shelf

The mantle...
I really need to figure out something for over the mantle. In fact this room needs some attention.Since we painted a couple of years ago the only thing that is hanging on the walls is the crucifix.

John had a big day on Friday...3 tests...Chemistry, Algebra 2, and Government. Then the bowling team had to leave early from school to drive to the sectional tournaments up in Port Clinton. John bowled well and actually was the top bowler on his team but did not advance. Gary was able to go watch but Thomas was sick so I stayed home...as it turned out that was a good thing since Colleen had a car issue so I ended up driving her to Columbus. I was glad to have some time with her but felt bad Thomas had to be on his own for what ended up being 3 1/2 hours due to traffic and snow. He was just finishing The Two Towers when I got home!

Last week it was robins...this week 3 bluebirds of happiness! I get such joy from watching the birds at the feeder. The boys think it is funny that I get so excited over the birds. My binocs and camera are sitting here on my little table right by the window.

St. Valentine Day treats from my husband.

I saw this recipe on line...it is rice krispie treats with a Tablespoon of cherry jello powder mixed in with the marshmallows and then covered in chocolate.  Let's just say I ate too many of these yummy treats.
