Pretty, Happy, Funny, Real...May Days!

This past week has been full of wonderful moments.

Sunday...mother's day...Elle came up for Mass...it was eventful as she called at 6:15 and said she was leaving Columbus and she was out of minutes on her phone...at 6:55 I got a text that there was an accident on Rt 71 and multple injuries...I was doing a lot of praying and finally thought to check and saw it was on the opposite side of the freeway...at about 8:40 she pulled in and we were off to Mass. Needless to say I offered up prayers of Thanksgiving for my dear daughter Elle's safety and for healing for those in the accident. We spent the day at home with my four coming and going.  In the afternoon we took a hike out to the Bird Sanctuary. It was a wonderful Mother's Day. I received flowers, a funny card and a certificate for a mother daughter day of my choosing...perfect gift for one whose love language is quality time!

Tuesday, Thomas and I helped Colleen move some things into Elle's apartment as she will be living there for the next couple months to finish her last 2 classes on main campus. Elle's lease is not up until mid July and one of her roomates moved out so it will give them a place to live as they search for an apartment and Colleen finishes up her classes. After moving her things in we stopped for lunch at Chik-Fil-A and then were off to the zoo. We are blessed with an amazing zoo and have a membership so when we go we usually just spend a couple of hours exploring one section of the zoo. Colleen chose the path and we were thrilled to end up at the new polar bear exhibit. They have a lower level where you can see the polar bears swimming. Sure enough one of them was accomodating and jumped in...

Wednesday mom made a birthday dinner for Gary and I.  We had to stop celebrating the individual adult birthdays with the extended family and just get together for the children's birthdays so mom started having us over for a birthday meal with our individual family. It has been a nice opportunity to have one on one time with mom and Richard.

Thursday Colleen had off and wanted to go out to Mohican to hike. I was hesitant to take another day off lessons but I told her if she could wait till late morning we would get lessons done and then go. It was a absolutely wonderful day and I am SO glad we took the time. We hiked the mile trail to the waterfall which was beautiful due to all the rain we had been having. We had just started on the trail and a couple pointed out a juvenile bald eagle just off the path...that alone made my day. The hike was lots of up and down and over some rocks and creeks...it felt great! On the way out the eagle was still there and we were able to share the sighting with a young couple starting in the hike.

The weekend was pretty amazing too.
Friday...Ignite!!! We had about 400 at church for praise and worship, adoration, and fellowship. We had guessed about 150 so we had to make a food run, set up extra chairs, pull out more candles for the procession with the monstrance. I will say it again...amazing!

Saturday...my niece Samantha's graduation party and my friend Nancy's daughter's wedding, and a stop on the way out of Marion at the cemetary to visit the Korte family gravesites.

                                                           Sunday ... Mass and R&R!
